Jesus’ mother stood near his cross. Her sister was also standing there with Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. John 19:25 ERV:
Mary stood near the cross with a mother’s broken heart. She could not remove the suffering, but she refused to leave her Son. Before He died, Jesus made sure she would be loved and cared for. Jesus created a new bond of family by entrusting her to His beloved disciple. This passage also reminds us to honor stepmothers, adoptive mothers, and every woman who loves a child as her own. Their love is real, their sacrifices matter, and when that child suffers or dies, their hearts grieve deeply too. Motherhood is not only formed by birth. It is also formed through love, devotion, and faithful care.
Father God, comfort every mother who has lost a child, including stepmothers, adoptive mothers, and all who have loved a child as their own. Hold their broken hearts close, surround them with caring people, and give them strength for each new day. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious Name Lord Jesus Amen.
