Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.
Job 16:19
This verse declares that even in suffering Job trusts a heavenly witness and advocate who records his case, a bold claim of divine advocacy and hope amid injustice. “My witness is in heaven”: Job affirms that God (or a heavenly witness/advocate) knows the truth about his integrity, a claim that transcends the unreliable testimony of friends or public opinion. This is an appeal to divine omniscience and justice. “My record is on high”: Job trusts that his life and sufferings are noted in heaven; nothing is overlooked. The verse expresses confidence that God keeps an accurate account and will vindicate the righteous.
When have you felt judged by people but known God’s understanding?
How does believing in a “heavenly witness” change the way you pray about injustice?
Father God, thank You that You see and remember us. Be our Advocate when we are misunderstood and give us courage to trust Your justice. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
