Elijah was a person just like us. He prayed that it would not rain. And it did not rain on the land for three and a half years!  Then Elijah prayed that it would rain. And the rain came down from the sky, and the land grew crops again. James 5:17–18 ERV:

James points to Elijah as proof that fervent, faithful prayer changes things—not because the prayer itself is magic, but because God responds to humble, persistent dependence. When we pray with honesty and perseverance, we join God’s work and open the door for his timing and power to bring renewal. Here is a story of a man who, through faith and prayer, opened up Heaven. Elijah is not in a class by himself. These signs shall follow those who believe. Heaven will still open to those who approach it on the Lord’s terms. “If you shall ask anything in my name I will do it.” John 14:14. Let Elijah’s example encourage you to pray boldly and keep praying until you see God move.

Dear Lord Jesus, teach me to pray with the same earnest faith Elijah showed; give me persistence when answers seem delayed and humility to trust your timing. Move in the places I cannot, bring renewal where there is drought, and let my prayers align with your will so your life and fruitfulness flow through me. Amen.
