“Love Doesn’t Hurt”

Love doesn’t hurt others. So loving is the same as obeying all the law. Romans 13:10 ERV

Love doesn’t hurt others, that is the clear, simple claim of Romans 13:10. Because true love refuses harm, loving is the same as obeying all the law: when we act in ways that protect, honor, and build up others, we fulfill the law’s intent. Love is not merely feeling; it is concrete choices that prevent injury, seek the good, and restore what is broken. Look inward: let your decisions be tested by whether they hurt or heal. Act outward: choose words and deeds that protect dignity and promote flourishing. Live together: cultivate communities where love’s refusal to harm becomes the default. True love protects. When Paul says love does no wrong, he gives a simple test for every choice: Does this action harm or heal? Love that obeys the law is not legalism but a posture that refuses to wound, exploit, or neglect another person. It speaks truth with gentleness, sets healthy boundaries, forgives without enabling harm, and seeks the flourishing of others even when it costs us. Living this way means choosing patience over anger, honesty over deceit, and service over selfishness, small daily decisions that together fulfill God’s law of life.

Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, make our love true. Give us eyes to see when our words or actions harm, courage to change them, and hearts that choose the good of others above our comfort. Teach us to obey Your law by loving without hurt. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Precious Name Amen.
