Romans 8:15-17 ERV: The Spirit that we received is not a spirit that makes us slaves again and causes us to fear. The Spirit that we have makes us God’s chosen children. And with that Spirit we cry out, “ Abba, Father.” And the Spirit himself speaks to our spirits and makes us sure that we are God’s children. If we are God’s children, we will get the blessings God has for his people. He will give us all that he has given Christ. But we must suffer like Christ suffered. Then we will be able to share his glory.

These verses remind us that the Spirit we’ve received is not one of fear but of adoption. When we trust Christ, the Holy Spirit moves into our hearts and confirms our true identity: we are children of God. That changes everything. We no longer live under the weight of condemnation or the need to earn acceptance. Instead, we live as heirs, sharing in Christ’s sufferings now and in his glory to come. Let that truth shape how you face weakness, rejection, and uncertainty today: you belong, you are loved, and your future is held by the Father.

Dear Blessed Lord Jesus, thank You for the witness of Your Spirit that I am your child. Fill me with that assurance so fear and striving fall away; help me to live with boldness, love, and peace. Thank You for adopting me into Your family by Your Spirit. Replace my fear with Your peace, remind me of my identity as Your child, and help me live as an heir of Your promises. Give me courage to follow You and patience to endure with hope. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Your Mighty Precious Name Jesus Amen.
