Genesis 1:27 ERV: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
This verse lands like a quiet, unshakable truth: every person bears God’s image. If you’re feeling small, overlooked, or compared, let that truth meet you first, you are made with intention and dignity. This verse affirms that God created mankind in God’s own image, and that creation includes male and female. The structure places humanity together under one divine identity rather than ranking or separating people by status, role, or appearance. Because we are made in God’s image, worth is not earned by achievement, appearance, or approval; it is given at creation. This verse resists any theology that makes worth conditional or hierarchical; image-bearing is shared, not parceled out. Being made in God’s image points to our capacity for relationship, moral responsibility, and reflection of God’s character. Equality before God; Image-bearing is universal: it applies to all people, across gender, age, ethnicity, and status. Moral implications; If every person reflects God, then justice, care, and respect are not optional; they are responses to that reflection. This verse invites communities that honor each person’s dignity rather than systems that exclude or devalue. See, then act; Intentionally look for the image of God in the people you meet; let that change how you listen and respond. Speak dignity; Use words that affirm worth (thank you, I see you, you matter) especially where people are vulnerable. Challenge injustice; When systems or habits demean others, name it and take small, concrete steps to protect and restore dignity. Teach and model; In families, workplaces, and churches, make equality a lived value: policies, practices, and everyday interactions should reflect it. Sometimes I forget and run ahead and sometimes I forget to forgive and then I Breathe, re-center and pause for three slow breaths. When I feel wounded and forget who I am, I ask God to remind me of His image stamped on my life. Breathe Gods worth into my heart. I ask Him to give me courage to protect my dignity and grace to act with truth. With each exhale, I repeat a short truth: I am known. I am valued. Breath slows my body and gives my mind a moment to choose truth over reaction. Then I ask God to forgive me because I know I am not perfect. But God is. When I cry around my dog, he looks at me like are you ok, it will be alright as he turns his head a little. Then I feel better cause God is in him. My dog never comes to me when I cry. He waks with me wherever I go. He listens to me also. He was panting a lot and I had to leave the yard and he followed me. I told him and pointed to get in the shed. He went, why? Because the ac was on in the she shed, water and food was in there, so he knew it was safe and cool. When you see the word ‘God” and look at the “Dog” it is a reminder to me that God is with me, I can feel better about ditching my fears. “I am made in God’s image, loved, seen, and never less.”
Father God, when I feel wounded and forget who I am, remind me of Your image stamped on my life. Breathe Your worth into my heart. Give me courage to protect my dignity and grace to act with truth. God of life, remind us that every person bears Your image. Give us eyes to see, courage to defend, and hearts that honor the worth You have given. Help us build communities where equality is practiced and every life is treasured. Love You, thank You, praise You and give You all the honor and glory in Jesus Mighty Precious Name Amen.
