“Asking the Holy Spirit First”

In the bible we learn:

The Spirit is given when we ask.

The Spirit guides when we pause and listen.

The Spirit teaches, comforts, corrects, and leads.

Our role is to seek, invite, and yield.

When we pause before acting, speaking, deciding, or even reacting, and we ask the Holy Spirit first, we’re choosing dependence over self‑reliance. We’re saying, “Lead me, not my emotions. Guide me, not my assumptions. Fill me, not my flesh.” This is how the Spirit shapes our steps, not by force, but by invitation. Every time you ask Him first, you’re opening the door for His wisdom, His gentleness, and His power to work in you. The beautiful part is this: He delights to answer. He delights to guide. He delights to give peace where there was confusion and strength where there was strain. Asking Him first is not a small thing. It’s the quiet beginning of a Spirit‑led life.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, and it shall be given him.” James 1:5

Wisdom comes through the Spirit, this verse supports asking before acting.

Holy Spirit, teach me to pause before I move. Let my first instinct be to seek You, not myself. Guide my thoughts, my words, and my steps, so that everything I do reflects Your wisdom and Your peace thank You, in Jesus Precious Name Amen.
