Making self-decisions is the way we all begin to learn more about who we are, and remembering who we are is a key part of rediscovering and recovering self-efficacy, past accomplishments, and preferences. This is how we begin to reclaim agency. When we choose for ourselves, even in small ways, we start remembering who we are beneath expectations, fear, or survival mode. Memory plays a vital role in that process. It reminds us of what we’ve already endured, what we’ve accomplished, and what we value. That remembering restores confidence and self‑efficacy, not as pride, but as grounded awareness.
Psalm 77:11–12 “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago. I will consider all Your works and meditate on all Your mighty deeds.”
