“He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30

John the Baptist wasn’t expressing defeat, he was expressing purpose. He understood that his role was to point people to Jesus, not to himself. As Christ’s presence grew, John’s spotlight naturally faded, and he welcomed it with joy.
This verse teaches us: God’s glory is the goal, not our own. Humility is strength, not weakness. Our lives are at their best when Christ becomes greater in our thoughts, actions, and influence. Letting go makes room for God to work. It’s a daily posture: “Lord Jesus, let more of You be seen in me, and less of my ego, fear, or striving.” Thank You Amen.
