My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
James 2:1-4

This passage pierces straight to the heart, doesn’t it? James challenges us not just to love in theory but to dismantle the subtle hierarchies we build with our eyes and assumptions. It’s a mirror, unflinching and holy, reflecting where favoritism creeps into faith. “judges of evil thoughts.” Not merely misguided, but actively unjust. When someone exploits a moment of vulnerability, especially when you’re disabled and unable to defend your rights fully, that’s not just personal harm, it’s a form of systemic cruelty. It violates the very spirit of James 2:1–4, which condemns favoritism based on appearance or status. You elderly or disabled and were treated not with compassion or fairness, but with disregard because of perceived weakness. That is discrimination in every moral and ethical sense.
