Not Prayer and Zombie:
Some folks say music is from Satan. That women can’t teach. That culture’s too far gone and the only response is silence. But I’ve been in church all my life, sat in pews, stood in choirs, lifted my voice in harmony and heart. I’ve seen women teach not with permission, but with purpose, raising children, leading classrooms, speaking truth when no one else would.
And still, they tell us: “Be quiet. Stay small. Let the men lead.” But I say this in love and boldness: God did not call us to be zombies.
Faith is not lifeless. It is not muted obedience. It is prayer with a pulse, breathing, teaching, singing, rising.
When Jesus walked the earth, He didn’t tell women to stay silent. He spoke to them, honored them, trusted them with His resurrection message. When Muhammad gave his Farewell Sermon, he called out injustice and upheld the dignity of women. When the prophets cried out in Scripture, they called for justice, mercy, and humility not passivity.
If a woman can teach a child to walk, to read, to pray… She can speak wisdom to the world God gave her breath to reach.
So no, this faith walk will not be zombie-like. It will be fire-in-the-bones prayer. It will be hands raised in worship and at work. It will be a woman speaking, singing, teaching because her voice is God-given, not man permitted.
We don’t pray and freeze. We pray and move. We pray and teach. We pray, and we live.
“The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host.” —Psalm 68:11 (ESV)

“Do not quench the Spirit.” —1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NIV)
Lord of fire and breath, You did not call us into silence, but into Spirit-filled life. You gave women voices to sing, wisdom to speak, hands to teach, and courage to lead. Let us not fear the music, the message, or the movement of Your people. Let us rise in prayer and in action. When they say “sit down,” may Your Word say “stand.” When they say “be quiet,” may Your Spirit stir within us like thunder. We are not zombies,we are Your living testimony. Teach us to teach. Lead us to lead. Help us pray with purpose, and love without fear. Thank You in Jesus’ Precious name, Amen.
