“Love As Jesus Does”

“People with this bad disease of the skin could not live near to other people. They lived outside the town.” My friend Pam I used to hang with and go to school with. Pam lived on my street. Pam was 7 years old. I went to her house like I did almost every day because she hadn’t been outside or in school. They told me I couldn’t see her or talk to her. I cried. I thought I had done something wrong. Everytime I went by her house I would say God why? If only I knew what I know now, how God was with me all along. One day there was alot of people at her house wearing black. I found out from Mrs. Lynch that Pam had passed away from cancer. Back in the day no one would know about illness unless your family went through the illness of a family member or themselves. It was none of our business or they wanted no one to know or gossip. Just saying. Now a days people know of another’s illness, by praying for them, encouraging them and loving them like Jesus. With awareness that something was wrong comes the assurance that there is ONE who can make it all right. “I WILL” Be clean! It is a big deal to God how we treat others to live.
It reads in Luke 5:12-16 One day, Jesus was in a certain town. A man with a bad disease of the skin was there. When the man saw Jesus, he threw himself down on the ground in front of him. He said, ‘Sir, you can make me well again if you want to do that. Please do it.’ Jesus put out his hand towards the man and he touched him. He said, ‘I do want to help you. Be clean again!’ Immediately, the disease left the man. ‘Do not tell anyone about this,’ Jesus said to him. ‘Instead, go and show yourself to the priest. Take a gift to him for God. Moses taught the people what gift to take to God when they are clean again after this kind of disease. This will show everyone that you are now well again.’ After this, more and more people started to hear the news about Jesus. Crowds were coming to hear him teach. Sick people also wanted him to make them well. But Jesus would often go away from the crowd to pray in quiet places.

It’s true that back in the day, illnesses were often kept private, and that could make it even more difficult for those left wondering and hurting. The story from the Bible mentioned about Jesus healing the man with a skin disease is quite profound. It shows the compassion and love Jesus had for people, reaching out to those who were often isolated and giving them hope and healing. Nowadays, there’s more awareness and understanding about illnesses, and people are more willing to support and pray for each other. It’s wonderful to see communities come together to offer encouragement and love, just as Jesus did. This experience Jesus highlights the importance of kindness and understanding in how we treat others. It’s a reminder that no matter the circumstances, we can always show compassion and support to those around us.
